Mounted Police Patrol Jackson Again
It’s not something the visiting public sees everywhere they go and while it has a very practical function, it adds to the western ambiance of the Town of Jackson. It’s the Jackson Police Department’s mounted patrol. Sergeant Cole Nethercott says some on horseback are sworn officers while others are volunteers. Nethercott says besides being able to keep an eye on things from a good vantage point, the members of the mounted patrol is able to visit with visitors about how to find the closest restrooms, restaurant or other services. He adds that it gives a real western feel to things to be able to speak to a representative of the police department on horseback.
