Mosquitos Begin to Breed

mosquito

There’s no question that the weather over the past several days has been very damp; and damp conditions along with standing water is ideal for the breeding of mosquitos.  The Wyoming Department of Health is reminding residents that as the weather warms, mosquitos can carry the West Nile virus which can cause potentially serious illness in humans.  Between now and then, state officials urge residents to drain any shallow, stagnant water, repair failed septic tanks, dispose of containers that collect water such as tin cans, ceramic pots, plastic containers or old tires, ensure roof gutters drain properly, cover trash containers, and keep drains, ditches and culverts free of grass clippings, weeds or trash that might prevent them from flowing properly.
