Black bear hunters are being reminded that Black Bear Hunt Areas 14, 15, 16, 17, and 30 within the Greys River Bear Management Unit closed to spring hunting on Monday. The hunt areas closed because the spring harvest quota of 22 female black bears was reached. If the harvest quota had not been reached this season, Game and Fish Spokesman Mark Gocke says these hunt areas would have closed ½ hour after sunset on June 15th. The fall archery season for black bear in these hunt areas will open August 15th. Hunters should check the current black bear regulations for specific opening dates as they vary by area.
