Implementation Plan Adopted
The Jackson Town Council together with the Teton County Commission Monday evening adopted the implementation plan to set the stage for adoption of the long-awaited town and county Comprehensive Plan. In doing so, Mayor Mark Barron says specific provisions were made to enable the necessary work on specifics needed to set the plan into motion. Barron says the town and county agreed to co-fund a long-term planning position on staff and begin to co-fund the development stages of for land development regulations. A major part of the implementation will involve education for the community and the boards themselves about what provisions are contained in the plan. Among their efforts are putting together a vegetation map of the entire county and the governments will both be looking for community participation in such efforts. Barron says it will probably be as much as two or three years for land development and other regulations to work through the public process and be changed to comply with the plan.
