Movie Producers Visit Jackson Hole
They call it a “fam-tour” – “fam” being short for familiarization; and that’s just what brings a group of folks from Hollywood to Jackson Hole today. Michell Howard of the Wyoming Film Office has been hosting the group as they have been exploring the communities and features around Wyoming this week. She says a couple producers on this tour are interested in Jackson for a ski film while other location managers on the trip are interested in being introduced to what Wyoming has to offer for potential future projects down the road. Howard says after experiences had recently by crews filming scenes from Django Unchained and an episode from Modern Family, interest in the area has been piqued. Howard says it is a small industry and the professionals all talk, and there have been quite a few inquiries about Wyoming since Django was shot because of people talking. Howard says the production designer for Django had come out on just such a “fam-tour” which then paid off with the selection of Jackson Hole for the shoot. Howard says last year was a great year for Wyoming as the media exposure brings the state a lot of attention and people then want to come out and visit the places they see there.
