YNP Inspections Planned
Yellowstone National Park rangers together with state and federal transportation officials have announced they will again conduct safety evaluations of commercial vehicles and operators traveling in the park through the 2012 summer season. The inspections are designed toensure the safe operation and mechanical soundness of commercial buses and trucks on Yellowstone’s roadways. Both the vehicle and the driver are evaluated in order to ensure compliance with federal regulations that govern commercial vehicle operation. Park officials point out that previous checks have resulted in a significant decrease in serious violations requiring commercial vehicles or commercial drivers be taken off the road. The safety checks will be made at random, announced times and locations.
