Bridger Teton Faces First Major Fire
Bridger Teton National Forest is facing its first fire of size this season, located33 miles northwest of La Barge. The Fontenelle was first reported about 4:30 pm yesterday and early reports put it at 100 acres in size and actively burning in dead and down timber. Eight smoke jumpers were quickly dispatched to the scene and are being augmented today by additional personnel and wildland fire engines. Smoke from this fire has been visible from Big Piney, Pinedale and the Star Valley area. As yet, there are no reports of closures or evacuations in the area of the fire. Currently, fire danger throughout the forest is considered high.
