Fontenelle Fire Blows Up
Strong winds and hot dry weather have been confounding efforts by firefighters to get a leg up on the Fontenelle Fire 33 miles northwest of La Barge which was first reported Sunday afternoon. By 2:00, Bridger Teton National Forest officials reported the fire had increased from 300 acres this morning to 9:00 acres. There are still no closures or evacuations in the fire’s vicinity, but there are numerous trailheads and roads not far from the fire which may eventually be impacted. The fire is burning in heavy dead and down timber and being supressed by 80 firefighters and 3 helicopters overseen by a Type 3 Management Team.
