Yellowstone Fire Danger “Very High”
Even as fires dominate the news throughout the Rocky Mountain West, Yellowstone National Park fire managers have increased the fire danger rating in the nation’s first park to “Very High.” Park Spokesman Dan Hottle says that means visitors need to be very conscientious about their use of fire. Hottle says that has increased over the last week from “Moderate” to “High” before becoming “Very High.” He says that means the fire managers will be keeping an eye on the conditions which have included high winds and gradual drying out. Hottle says there are no restrictions at this time, but he sounds the familiar cautions: if you have a campfire, be very careful and be sure the fire is out cold before you leave your camping or picnic spot.
