Fontenelle Fire Now 15% Contained

FontHeli

Fire crews made excellent progress on building fire lines around the southwestern portion of the Fontenelle Fire Tuesday, with 15% containment now completed.  Currently, there are 811 people assigned to the fire with additional crews now ordered from Alaska to help local resources begin mopping up the burned areas.  Fire officials say even though there was lower humidity and higher winds, the fire did not grow significantly Tuesday largely because of the the work by six helicopters dropping water on the perimeter throughout the day.  Estimates now place the fire size at 56,179 acres.  With slightly cooler temperatures and reduced wind speeds forecast beginning today, firefighters are hopeful they can begin construction of fire line along the northeast section of the fire.
