Trash Shipped To Idaho Now
Teton County no longer ships its trash to Sublette County as it has for the past 23 years. As of July second, Teton County Solid Waste has been hauling trash from the transfer station to Bonneville County, Idaho where the tipping fee is lower. Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling Division Chief Heather Overholser says the county staff determined the move will save approximately $155-thousand in fiscal year 2013. Teton County Commissioner Ben Ellis says the community here is grateful for the positive, collaborative relationship between the two counties with respect to operation of the Sublette Landfill and hopes to keep the door open in the event that any unforeseen situation would prevent transporting solid waste to Bonneville County in the future.
