Crimestopper Tip Leads Police To Felon
Teton County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, assisted by the Jackson Police Department, Tuesday located and arrested a 25 year old man on an active felony warrant for “Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon” in 2010. Ramiro Lopez-Montiel was apprehended in an alley behind North Glenwood Street within the Town of Jackson after sheriff’s officers were alerted by a Crimestopper tip. Sheriff’s Sergeant Tom Combs says Lopez-Montiel had been convicted in 2010 and given a suspended prison sentence, turned over to the custody of Immigration Customs Enforcement and deported from the United States. He then returned to the United States illegally using a different name and fake identification. Combs says as a result of the Tuesday arrest, Lopez-Montiel has also been charged with misdemeanor “Inteference with a Peace Officer” for providing false information and fake documents to deputies to avoid being arrested. Immigration Customs Enforcement is assisting the Teton County Sheriff’s Office with additional investigation. Meanwhile, Combs says Lopez-Montiel was booked into the Teton County Jail without incident.
