Wildlife Officials Watch For West Nile
Until now, not much has been said this summer about West Nile Virus in Wyoming. Now however, the Wyoming Game and Fish is asking residents, especially landowners, to report any dead sage grouse they may encounter so that the birds can be tested for the virus. West Nile can be spread to humans after a mosquito bites an infected bird and then bites a person. The state’s sage grouse biologist, Tom Christiansen says if conditions remain warm through August, there could be an increase in incidences of West Nile this year.
