Patrol To Scrap Quotas

WWHPyoming Highway Patrol troopers will no longer be required to meet quotas in traffic stops as the patrol adopts new policies in the new year. Patrol Administrator Colonel John Buttler says the recent mandate requiring a specified number of traffic stops and citations issued will be repealed. He adds that the patrol remains committed to curbing hazardous driving behaviors whenever they are encountered including impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving and failure to wear seatbelts. He says troopers have discretion whether stops for violations result in a citation or a warning.
