With that vote came three conditions of approval, one of which requires the Housing Authority to use one of the four commercial spaces on Scott Lane as their office. The condition reads, “Teton County Housing Authority will move their offices from their current Broadway location to a commercial space in The Grove development addressed as 825 W Snow King Avenue and 250 Scott Lane within 12 months of the commercial B Building completion”.
According to the staff report, one reason given for requiring TCHA to move into The Grove was that there was some interest among Council members at the time for selling the TCHA building. Other reasons included that there were benefits to Teton County Housing Authority being located at the site of one of their projects.
The Housing Authority said in 2013 that they intended to move to the Grove site.
Now they don’t want to.
At a planning commission meeting, the Authority cited costs of nearly a quarter-million dollars to make the move as well as lost rental income from the project.
The Planning Commission made a motion to approve the Amendment request to remove the condition but the motion was not seconded and so the motion did not pass.
The issue now sits on the council agenda where a decision is expected tonight.
