Friday Red Flag Warning

Burning Not Recommended

Critical fire weather is expected over portions of western and

central Wyoming this afternoon and evening.

A red flag warning remains in effect from noon today to 9 pm

this evening for the east slope of the wind river mountains.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions

are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of

strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can

contribute to extreme fire behavior.

A cold front will move across Wyoming this afternoon and

evening. a combination of hot temperatures., low relative

humidity, gusty and shifting winds, lightning, and a Haines

index of six will likely bring critical fire conditions to some

portions of western and central Wyoming.

A Haines Index of 6 means a high potential for an existing fire to become large or exhibit erratic fire behavior.
