Town Reminds On Fall/Winter Tips

Town of Jackson Wins Award

The temporary dog park has been established in the Fairgrounds Parking lot and is open to the public.  The winter season dog park will be up until May 1st.  Hours of operation are sunrise to sunset.

Wintertime Parking Restrictions (Nov. 1 – April 15)

Starting November 1st the snow-tow law will be in effect, and will continue to be so until April 15th.  This means whether it snows or not, no cars are to be parked on Town streets or Town parking lots overnight (between the hours of 3am and 7am).  Cars will be ticketed and may be towed.  This parking ban is in place because of the potential for snowfall in the region.   Snow can only efficiently and cost effectively be cleared at night from lots and streets that are empty of cars.

Sidewalks & Public Parking Garage

Speaking of parking, the Town of Jackson asks that residents be conscience of not blocking or partially blocking sidewalks when parking 2 vehicles deep in driveways.  Residents should also be aware that the Public Parking Garage on Millward Street and Simpson Avenue has a 48 hour maximum parking time limit throughout the year including the fall and winter.

Garbage Can Placement

During the winter it’s a great help to put your garbage can out the morning of garbage pick-up and not the night before.  As plow drivers clear snow in neighborhoods in the very early morning hours, they may accidentally hit a can because they don’t see it, or they often have to swerve around them, making the streets not as well plowed as they could be.

Sidewalk Snow Shoveling

As the snow falls, the Town of Jackson would like to remind you to keep the sidewalks in front of your residence clear of snow. Please do not deposit snow onto the roadways or near fire hydrants. This is a Town of Jackson ordinance and failure to remove snow from your sidewalk or shoveling snow into the street may result in a citation. To read the complete ordinance and to find out find out more information please refer to our website: or call the Town Hall: 733-3932.
