Mining Permit Denied North Of YNP

A Canadian mining company has lost its permit to explore for gold north of Yellowstone National Park. Sixth Judicial District Court Judge Brenda Gilbert ruled in a lawsuit filed by local environmental groups to deny Lucky Minerals a valid permit a gold mining exploration project up Emigrant Gulch. Despite a May 2018 ruling by Gilbert that the Montana Department of Environmental Quality unlawfully approved the exploratory project, the Canadian mining company still held a valid permit as long as it posted bond for July 15th through October 15th 2018 and 2019. However, last year the company never posted a bond, completing only non-penetrative exploration work.
