Lower Valley Energy Cuts Ribbon On New Transmission Line

by Jackson Hole Radio News

Lower Valley Energy has completed the project to build a transmission line to Soda Springs rather than having Bonneville Power Administration do it. During last week’s ribbon cutting, LVE Chief Executive Officer Jim Webb says the move saves the member consumers about $30-million and makes power service more reliable.

The new 24-mile Hooper Springs transmission line has been in the works for over 16 years with construction taking place since last August. Now, Lower Valley Energy customers in Jackson Hole will cumulatively save about $600,000 per year for the next 40 years by their financing, and building of the line, and leasing the line back to Bonneville Power Administration.
