Durbian Will Manage Refuge

by Jackson Hole Radio News

Frank Durbian will become the new manager of the National Elk Refuge in early July. Interior Department Assistant Secretary of Fish Wildlife and Parks Rob Wallace says Durbian is well qualified and will work well with state wildlife leaders.

“I talked to Brad Hovinga, the Game and Fish warden here, and he met him during the interview process, excited to have him and that’s going to be key because of that partnership between the State of Wyoming and the National Elk Refuge – it’s critical.”

Wallace says Durbian will have to deal with some weighty concerns like the fate of the feeding program at a time the herd is faced with the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease and Brucellosis.
