Air Travel Down 80%

The Coronavirus continues to take its toll on air travel in and out of Jackson Hole. Travel through the Jackson Hole Airport again saw a marked decline during June according to the monthly report to the airport board. Those catching flights out of the airport were 81% fewer than the same month in 2019 with 9600 people flying out of the valley compared with 49,328 during June of last year. 78% fewer people arrived in Jackson Hole by air last month than did in June of 2019. 12,061 passengers walked in through the familiar antler arch into the baggage claim area compared with 55,030 the year before. Accordingly, airlines provided 66% fewer flights in and out of the valley last month. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jackson Hole Airport had been experiencing a steady increase in passengers and flights each year.
