The Post 43 Giants were hoping for a little home-cooking, returning to Giants Stadium after a Rock Springs road trip last weekend, but the kitchen was closed and the food, well, Pocatello spoiled that. The Runnin’ Rebels put up 3 in the first frame of the first game of a twinbill and Jackson never could manage to claw their way back into the game. It wasn’t for a lack of effort. The Giants threatened in nearly every inning but 11 men left on base told the story of squandered opportunities. Seth Christiansen came to play for Jackson. The big shortstop went 3-3 while team captain Quentin Bruno, batting behind him in the order, knocked in 3 of the Giants 6 runs. The comeback kids gave a go in the final inning, putting up 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th to make it a bit closer at 10-6 Pocatello. The nightcap was all Riley Perk, as the Runnin’ Reb starter threw a complete game shutout, surrendering just 4 Giants hits—Jackson’s Connor Lang had 2 of those. Final score was Pocatello 7, Jackson 0. Post 43 Giants are now 17-26 on the season. Not where they wanted to be but looking at a rematch with the Rock Springs Archie Hay Sand Puppies this Saturday afternoon at Giants Stadium. Listen to KZ95 for live coverage.
