Cold Temps Freezing Pipes

by Jackson Hole Radio News

The Town of Jackson’s Public Works Department has been fielding calls about frozen water pipes and reminds the community to take steps to stay prepared for freezing winter temperatures.

Those steps include frequently using your water supply, keeping a small trickle of water flowing or dripping from a faucet farthest from the intake and into a drain, keeping the heat in the house not lower than 50 degrees, keeping cabinet doors under the kitchen and bathroom sinks open to allow heat inside, and having someone check on your house daily if you will be away for an extended period of time.

If your pipes do freeze, call a professional to deal with the situation. Too often, do it yourself efforts result in a house fire or other expensive damage.
