Two snowmobilers from Montana survived two nights out in the Beartooth Mountains northeast of Yellowstone National park before being rescued Saturday.
The Park County, Wyoming Sheriff’s Office reported 22-year-old Trevor Deal, of Bridger, Montana and 21-year-old Maison Ostwald, of Laurel, Montana were found Saturday by a Park County search and rescue team aided by two National Guard helicopters.
The men had gone snowmobiling Thursday morning in the Beartooth Mountains east of the Top of the World Store. At about 5:00 pm, a friend received a call from them saying one of their snowmobiles had become disabled and they were trying to get back to the highway.
When they were found rescuers say the pair were reportedly exhausted, dehydrated and hypothermic. Ostwald suffered severe frostbite and was flown to Idaho Falls Burn Center for treatment.
