Legislators Do Double Duty

It’s not the kind of duty a state senate president normally performs.

On Monday, following the major snowstorm and blizzard that crippled Cheyenne and shut down the legislature, Senate President Dan Dockstader of Star Valley, worked with the help of House Speaker Eric Barlow of Gillette to remove snow and ice from the space above the ceiling of the Senate chambers in the Wyoming Capitol.

The snow had blown in through a vent during Sunday’s blizzard. Barlow also worked Sunday to eliminate another snowdrift and ice pack in the ceiling above the House chamber of the Capitol.

While the melting snow and ice did create a wet spot on the House and Senate floors, a Legislative Service Office official said damage from the event was minimal. State business will resume in the legislature today after two days delay due to the storm.
