Bear struck and killed in Wilson

/

A blonde-colored black bear was struck and killed on Wyoming Highway 22 last night about 7:35 pm just outside of Wilson. According to Wyoming Highway Trooper Adam Johnson, the bear jumped the guardrail from the south side of the road and into the path of a GMC Yukon that was traveling eastbound, glancing off the vehicle. However, the bear then spun into the path of a westbound rental car driven by a Florida visitor who had no time to react and maneuver away from the bear. The bear was struck and killed while at the same time causing major damage to the rental car. Trooper Johnson says the bear suffered major head trauma. Johnson says the 4-to-5 year-old male bear was apparently attracted by the carcass of a deer lying on the north side of the road. No charges were filed in the incident.
