Idaho fire restrictions lifting

The Bureau of Land Management Idaho Falls District, Idaho Department of Lands, Bureau of Reclamation, US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Caribou-Targhee National Forest are lifting Stage One Fire Restrictions effective today. As in neighboring Jackson Hole, the amount of precipitation received over the majority of the region over the past several days, has caused moisture levels in vegetation to drop to non-critical levels. Assistant Fire Management Officer for the Caribou/Targhee National Forest Martell Gibbons cautions however, “This doesn’t mean we are out of the woods regarding the potential for wildfires occurring.” Long range forecasts are still calling for a warming and drying trend into the fall.
