Grand Teton National Park broke records again after totaling up July visitations. For that matter, according to the National Park Service Visitor Use Statistics Office, July saw highest number of recreation visits on record for any single month in the park’s history. Grand Teton hosted an estimated 828,777 recreation visits during this just passed July.

That is a 6.8% increase from July 2019 (775,788 recreation visits) which was the most recent “normal” year. It also tops the highest visitation until now in 2018 by 4% when the July count was 795,725. At the same time, camping in the park increased 2.7% in July 2021 compared to July 2019, while backcountry camping increased 15.4%.

Yellowstone also broke records with over 1-million recreational visitors during July. That is a park record for any month since the park was first established 149 years ago. Yellowstone Superintendent Cam Sholly told a press conference Friday that the park had seen 1,080,000 visitors last month. That tops the previous high mark by 8%.
