Senator John Barrasso talks about Rylee McCollum on the floor of the US Senate.
U.S. Senator John Barrasso yesterday delivered a tribute on the US Senate floor to the life and service of US Marine Lance Corporal Rylee McCollum. McCollum, lost his life along with twelve other service members in a terrorist attack in Kabul, Afghanistan on August 26th. Barrasso told the Senate McCollum’s plan was to serve in uniform and then come home to Wyoming. Barrasso said McCollum’s goal was to teach history and coach wrestling, but Barrasso said Rylee died as he was defending those being evacuated through the Kabul airport.
“Rylee McCollum is an American hero. His name will always be held in honor throughout Wyoming where for the half million people of our state we all think of Rylee and Gigi, and now the baby as part of our family”.
Barrasso showed the Senate a picture of Rylee’s wife Gigi and their daughter, Levi Rylee Rose born just yesterday. Barrasso commented the child will never know Rylee, yet his child will always know that Rylee McCollum, her father, was a hero.
