As we consider the meager snowfall in the Jackson Hole Valley so far this year, it is an entirely different story west of the Tetons. Fremont County, Idaho Emergency Management reports more than three feet of snow has fallen outside Island Park since Sunday, and the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center is continuing the avalanche warning for this area since very dangerous avalanche conditions exist there.
Specifically, the avalanche danger is rated high on all slopes. In the higher elevations above Jackson Hole, the avalanche danger has been rated moderate.
