Dole remembered

Senator Robert Joseph Dole died early Sunday morning in his sleep. At his death, at age 98, he had served the United States of America for 79 years as a World War II veteran and former Republican presidential candidate who served in Congress for 36 years.

On hearing of the Senator’s passing, Former Vice President Dick Cheney said, “Our friendship spanned nearly 50 years, going back to his time as President Ford’s running mate, and he carried his devotion to this nation through all of his work in life. His presence will be missed, but the profound impact he had on this country will never be forgotten.
