Wyoming budget heads for vote

Andy Schwartz

Both the Wyoming House and Senate will vote in their chambers on their respective amendments to the state’s $2.8-billion 2023-24 budget bill on third reading today. Teton County Representative Andy Schwartz says he is pleased with what the House version of the spending bill contains.

“We added money for the Department of Health, the Department of Family Services which really pays now that the Community Juvenile Service Board came back, we gave a big chunk, seven million I think, to the community colleges, we bumped the pay raise for state employees by 20% which was very important to me.”

Schwartz says there probably will be more amendments on the budget bill in each chamber, before it is passed in its final form.
