Gireau talks redistricting bill

The Wyoming Senate has passed the Redistricting of the Legislature bill 20-10 on third reading and sent it on to the House for consideration there. Teton County Senator Mike Gireau, however says there are some issues with the bill that will need to be reconciled.

“The House passed a plan that was in deviation in accordance with the constitution that calls for one man, one vote, period. The Senate passed a plan – a 60/30 plan – that is out of deviation in only one district, by 4-hundred-and some people; but the bottom line is that that’s the one thing we’re supposed to do is do it within the law, and we didn’t. It passed, and so now we’ve got a plan, the House has a plan and they’re fundamentally difficult to reconcile. Yet a committee is going to get appointed to do just that.”
