The Jackson Police are investigating an incident at the Pink Garter Plaza approximately 12:55 am Sunday when the bronze elk statue located in front of the Plaza was pushed over by what appears to be a disgruntled male. Video footage suggests the male suspect attempted to enter The Rose but came back downstairs a few moments later without going in.
After wandering around the courtyard for a few moments, he grabs a bike rack and slams it to the ground. He then walks over to the Elk Statue, lights a cigarette, and leans against the statue which wobbles.
Then the male pushes the statue over and leaves the area, westbound on the sidewalk of Broadway. The incident caused an estimated $5,000.00 damage to an antler on the statue.

The suspect is a white male, about 5’11-6’1” tall, wearing gray pants, an orange two-tone parka, and a Dakine trucker hat. The male appears to be in his 40’s or 50’s and has scruffy facial hair.
He apparently spoke with several patrons of The Rose prior to his departure. Anyone who was a witness to this incident and can help the police identify the male, is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 733-5148. If your tip leads to an arrest and conviction, you may be eligible for a reward.
