Yin discusses ARPA funds

The house held a lengthy discussion yesterday on the second reading of Senate File 66, the American Rescue Plan Act Recovery Funds Appropriations. Jackson Representative Mike Yin says Broadband is a big part of that, not only in his district but across the state.

“One of the biggest things that we need is just broadband across the state. Even Teton County there’s quite a few communities that really just don’t have access to broadband, and frankly, that’s disappointing.”

The State has received $534-million in ARPA funds to date, with another $534-million anticipated during 2022. Unlike the short timeframe to expend funds received through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, the State of Wyoming has until December 31st, 2024 to obligate the ARPA funds and until December 31st, 2026 to spend them.
