Alleged Hit-Man arrested in Yellowstone

A Vermont newspaper, the Caledonian-Record is reporting that a man sought for four years in connection with an apparent “murder-for-hire” was arrested in Yellowstone National Park last week.

Federal documents filed in US District Court in Cheyenne show that 34-year-old Jerry Banks, living in Ft. Garland, Colorado was arrested Wednesday in Yellowstone National Park where he was working.

A news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office Vermont district states that the complaint affidavit leading to his arrest contains allegations that Banks murdered a man in Danville, Vermont.

The Caledonian-Record, says the man’s body was partially covered in snow in northern Vermont in early January 2018. He had been shot six times.

The complaint charges Banks with kidnapping, which carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. The criminal complaint lodged against Banks contains accusations only, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

US Magistrate Judge Kelly Rankin ordered Banks held on bail pending a hearing today.
