Elk Antler Auction kicks off Old West Days

The traditional kick-off to Jackson Hole’s summer season begins this weekend with the Boy Scout antler auction and other Elkfest activities. Beginning on Friday, the Teton Powwow Showcase at the Center for the Arts will be a beautiful educational experience for ticket holders. Then on Saturday, the Teton Powwow & Expo offers free experiences from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm at Snow King Event Center.

The Powwow Grand Entrance will be at noon.  Elkfest private antler sales take place on the Town Square from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm Saturday, and the world-famous Boy Scouts Elk Antler Auction, preceded by a brief performance by the Jackson Hole Community Band, opens at 10:00 am.

Then on Sunday, there’s the spirited annual competition as professionals and amateurs battle it out for “the best chili in the Valley” from noon – 4:00 pm on Town Square. Chili spoons, available at the event, are $20 for all-you-can-taste chili.

There will also be a free concert by Strumbucket, access to beer vendors, and more. Other activities pepper the weekdays leading to the Old West Days Celebration on the 28th complete with a parade and a concert on the 29th by Country Music Star Travis Tritt.
