Teton County Sheriff’s Officers closed Spring Gulch Road to traffic last night while they worked to diffuse an active shooter situation in the area.
Authorities sent out a community alert at about 845 PM Tuesday night closing the road from Highway 22 to Sagebrush Drive.
Initially the information indicated that there was no danger to people in the area. That was updated at about 905 to advise residents to shelter in place. The alert said that here was an active shooter in the area and advised people to go indoors and stay away from windows.
The Sheriff’s office announced at 10PM that they were continuing to work to resolve the incident and were out with a gunman on Spring Gulch Road.
Officers said they understood that it was a stressful situation for the community and thanked the public for their patience as they worked to bring this situation to a safe resolution.
At 1140 PM the Shelter in Place warning was lifted as the Sheriff’s office announced they had resolved the active shooter situation.
Authorities reopened the road within an hour.
