Authorities still don’t have a containment time estimate for the Saddle Butte fire, but they are going to extend the Saddle Butte Subdivision’s evacuation orders through the night tonight.
Conditions will be reassessed in the morning. Units are currently shuttling residents who left vital medications and pets, to and from their homes.
“Even though it may look like the fire is out, there are still hot spots that can flare, especially in this type of weather conditions,” said Chief Hansen. “We want to make sure the area is 110 percent safe before we can open it back up to residents.” Hansen met earlier today with Saddle Butte homeowners.
Spring Creek Ranch/Resort, Amagani and Pine Siskin Road remain in the “Ready” stage of ‘Ready, Set, GO!’, a program that helps residents be: Ready with preparedness understanding and mitigation; Set, with critical preparations when fire threatens; and GO!, evacuating immediately upon request.
A Red Flag Warning has been issued for Teton County indicating that conditions exist for dangerous fire weather with wind and low humidity.
A partial burn ban is in effect for the county.
