Jackson Hole Giants come home to face Casper

June 28, 2022 by Jackson Hole Radio

The road-weary Post 43 Giants are limping home after a long weekend of baseball in Utah where Jackson went 1-3. There were some highlights but ultimately the bats came alive in only one contest at the St. George tournament.
St. George 7, Jackson 1
Three straight singles got the Giants on the board in the first inning of their first game of the tourney against St. George. That was all Jackson would get the rest of the way as the Sentinels found their footing and chipped away at Giants starter Xander Witt.
Witt took the loss but pitched well enough to win. He received no offensive support from a team that managed just 1 hit the rest of the way after the 1-0 lead in the first was quickly erased.
Jackson 12, Stansbury 10
The Giants had to use five pitchers in a wild one with Stansbury on Thursday but they survived a scare after watching their 7-run lead almost disappear.
Post 43 exploded with a 10-run 3rd inning including Matt Fisher’s first career homerun.
Stansbury came storming back, eventually chasing starter Mason Wright and two pitchers out of the pen who have been good all year—Owen Khanna and Bridger Hammond. It took Trayson Kostial to settle things down for Jackson and pick up the save.
Colorado Mesa 9, Jackson 0
The Giants never got the offense going against Colorado Mesa Friday morning. Ethan Garner, Trayson Kostial, and Bridger Hammond managed the only hits for Jackson.
Wylie Wilkes took the loss and again struggled to find the plate. He walked 2 and hit 6 batters in 3 1/3 innings.
Cedar City 13, Jackson 3
Jackson managed 5 hits and 3 runs off Cedar City on Saturday but never could mount much in the way of sustained offense all game long.
Starter Matt Fisher (2-1) was rocked pretty good from the outset. He left with the loss after 2 1/3 innings work, surrendering 8 runs on 8 hits, while walking 4.
Owen Khanna gave the Giants 2 2/3 solid innings of middle relief but Jackson could not get the offense going.
Next up
The Jackson Giants are now 21-22 on the season as they return home to host the Casper Oilers in an all-important conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon beginning at 2pm.
That game will be broadcast by KZ95.
