The Jackson Hole Moose are off to a hot start in 2022-23 with four straight wins at the Snow King Sports & Event Center. An opening weekend sweep of the Colorado Nailers was followed by last weekend’s wins over the Bozeman Stingers.
Jackson Hole 5, Colorado 2
Jackson’s top line wasted no time getting the new season started. Drew Akins tallied the year’s first goal with assists from AJ Sanders and Stephen Miller. Alex Dewitz added a pair in the 3-goal 2nd period to put the Moose ahead for good as the hometown team cruised to a 5-2 win.
Jackson Hole 9, Colorado 4
Jackson broke open a close game with 6 garbage goals in the 3rd but until the final frame it was a close one at Snow King. The Moose never trailed but had trouble putting away the strong-skating Nailers.
Rookie Stephen Miller notched his first goal as a Moose to start the scoring. Mike Longo and Ryan Glantz added goals as the Moose took a 3-2 lead into second intermission.
The Nailers could not bottle Jackson’s top scorers forever, though, and it was the 3rd period where Drew Akins and AJ Sanders took over the game to seal the 5-goal win for the Moose.
Jackson Hole 8, Bozeman 1
Fans were treated to a real goaltenders’ duel Friday night as Jackson’s Nick Krauss and Bozeman’s Kurt Koski put on a show in net. Krauss let in just the one goal against the 43 shots he saw; Koski made 75 saves in all during an extremely busy night.
Jackson also received a boost from a few holiday add-ons to the roster—Owen Lewis and Cody Rusinek scoring their first goals as Moose players.
Jackson Hole 8, Bozeman 4
Bozeman did a better job of hanging around Saturday night. The Moose enjoyed a slim 5-4 lead at the second break on a pair of goals from Ryan Glantz (2G, 1A) and AJ Sanders (2G, 3A), along with one from Dakota Richardson (1G, 1A).
Drew Akins and Stephen Miller slammed the door on the Stingers during a 3-goal 3rd period.
