Jackson Hole Public Art, in collaboration with the Town of Jackson and Teton County, is inviting artists to play a pivotal role in the development of the Stilson Transit Center. This call for qualifications is an open invitation for artists to contribute their vision to a project that blends functionality with creativity in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Scheduled to open in 2026, the Stilson Transit Center aims to be more than just a transit hub. With a 2,900 square foot facility and a 400-space park-and-ride lot equipped with electric vehicle charging stations and bicycle-friendly amenities, the center is positioned to be a cornerstone of sustainable transit in the area. The inclusion of site-specific artwork is intended to enrich this space, making it a landmark of cultural and social significance.

This project seeks to harness the power of public art to enhance the aesthetic and user experience of the Stilson Transit Center. Artists are encouraged to propose works that reflect the unique character of Jackson Hole, the functionality of the transit center, and the broader themes of mobility and environmental stewardship.
A selection panel will review submissions and select 3 to 5 artists to develop their concepts further, with compensation. The chosen artwork will ultimately be commissioned by the Town of Jackson, becoming a lasting part of Teton County’s public art collection.
This opportunity is not just about beautifying a space; it’s about making art accessible to all and weaving it into the fabric of everyday life. It’s an invitation to artists to think about how art intersects with public spaces, transportation, and the community’s engagement with its environment.
Interested artists have until March 15, 2024, to submit their qualifications. This is not just a chance to display art but to contribute to a project that aims to set a precedent for integrating public art into civic infrastructure.
For more information on how to apply and what the project entails, artists are encouraged to reach out to Carrie Geraci, Executive Director of Jackson Hole Public Art, or visit the JH Public Art website. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the legacy of Jackson Hole and its commitment to public art and sustainable transportation solutions.
