Jackson Hole’s snowfall best in a decade for start of ski season

December 2, 2022 by Jackson Hole Radio

Big Storm Dumps Powder on Jackson Hole

A winter storm is piling up Jackson Hole’s snowfall and is set to make some of the best early season skiing that Jackson Hole’s resorts have seen in years.

A winter storm warning is in effect into Friday and more snow is on the way on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

Snow King Gondola opens on Saturday

In what has been called the best start to the winter season on Snow King Mountain for over a decade, it will be fresh powder tomorrow when the Rafferty Lift and Gondola will open for the season.

The Cowboy Coaster is now scheduled to open December 10th and King Tubes open soon after that.

The Sunnyside lift and backside terrain are filling in with snow and will be open as soon as conditions permit.

The King also allows uphill travel on the mountain and they urge users to follow uphill travel policies posted online. You can purchase an uphill travel season or day pass.  Single file travel is required for uphill use, and dogs are not allowed on the mountain at any time lifts are in operation.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort opens Aerial Tram Saturday

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort opens the Aerial Tram, Sublette Lift, the Bridger Gondola, and Marmot will all open tomorrow, allowing access to Rendezvous Bowl, Cheyenne Bowl, Gros Ventre, and beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain.

Jackson Hole’s snowfall has five other lifts are currently operating: Teewinot, Après Vous, Sweetwater Gondola, Casper, and Teton.

The newly replaced Thunder Lift is scheduled to open on Dec. 10.

To stay  up-to-date on conditions, JHMR features  their app JH Insider.

Grand Targhee makes it easy

Winter is off to big start with well over 100 inches of snow at Grand Targhee.

The ‘ghee has updated their website this season so you can now purchase day tickets online and they have created a new pick-up system when you arrive at the resort so you can skip the lines.

Now, instead of waiting in line at the ticket booth, you can use one of four automated Pick-Up Boxes located around the resort.

Get ready for deep snow throughout the weekend at Grand Targhee.
