The Jackson Hole Moose began the 2019-20 season in winning fashion taking two from the Park City Pioneers over the weekend. Both games featured a little of everything—exciting up-tempo skating, strong goaltending, and a few dustups earning combatants time in the penalty box.
The Moose shook off a bit of off-season rust to take a two-goal lead into the 3rd period Friday night only to watch the Pioneers climb back into it, tying the game in regulation.
Jackson’s Drew Akins netted the game-winner just one minute into the 3-on-3 overtime period, sealing the win for the Moose 6-5. Saturday’s affair was not as close as Friday’s but not as lopsided as the final 8-2 score would indicate.
The Moose led 4-2 after two before the third period deteriorated into garbage time as the Jackson tacked on 4 meaningless goals through the final 20 minutes.
