Vice-Chairwoman of the Teton County Commission, Natalia D. Macker, has declared her intention to run for re-election as County Commissioner in 2024. Emphasizing her dedication to local government and the welfare of working families in Teton County, Wyoming, Macker highlighted her commitment to preserving the local ecosystem and enhancing opportunities for working families amid growing partisanship and challenges to democracy. Her campaign promises to focus on unity and pragmatic solutions for the community’s challenges.
Since her initial appointment to the Teton County Commission in 2015, Macker has been an advocate for policies beneficial to public health, affordable housing, early childhood education, community-based prevention initiatives, human service funding, and water quality improvement. Her leadership roles within the Commission and active participation in the Wyoming County Commissioners Association have facilitated state-wide collaboration on issues like natural resources, local governance, and funding mechanisms.
As the youngest and only female member of the Commission, Macker’s efforts are particularly focused on the economic and social advancement of women in Wyoming, known as the Equality State. She has actively supported measures to close the gender wage gap, introduced legislation for pregnant worker fairness, and promoted early childhood education and suicide and substance abuse prevention programs. Macker is also involved in efforts to increase women’s representation in government and leadership positions, collaborating with organizations such as the Wyoming Women’s Action Network and the Wyoming Council for Women.
Her contributions to Teton County and beyond have not gone unrecognized. Macker was the first woman to receive the WCCA 2019 Riding for the Brand award for Commissioner of the Year, among other accolades highlighting her service and impact.
Macker’s re-election campaign, launched on a day that celebrates the achievements and rights of women worldwide, underscores her vision for a more inclusive and equitable Wyoming. She is committed to continuing her work to enhance the quality of life and economic opportunities for women, working families, and future generations in Teton County and the state at large.
Macker’s career in public service iincludes significant roles within the Teton County Board of County Commissioners and the Wyoming County Commissioners Association, as well as her involvement with the Wyoming Community College Commission and the Wyoming Council for Women. Beyond her public service, Macker contributes to the community through her leadership in the Off Square Theatre Company and her active participation in local and state boards focused on environmental quality, energy conservation, and public recreation. A Yale University graduate, Macker resides in Teton County with her family, where they are engaged in various community and religious activities.
