Police work in Jackson Hole can be somewhat different from what you might find in other communities. On February 15th at a little past midnight, Officer Edward Gerlach responded to a deer that had somehow made it onto the metal awning of the parking structure and could not find its way down. Gerlach tried to get it to climb back out the way it had come, but the tin roof was too slick with frost. When that didn’t work, he tried to rope it. THAT worked…well, kind of. The deer made it to the ground without injury, but not in the way you’d expect, and Officer Gerlach gets an “A” for effort.
