Smoke to Increase Today in Jackson Hole – Evacuation Warnings Relaxed

October 21, 2024 by Jackson Hole Radio

Crews continue to fight the Pack Trail Fire and today there’s going to be a tactical firing operation happening along the Bacon Creek trail which is on the southwest side of the fire up above the Gros Ventre area.  There’s going to be quite a bit of smoke generated by the fire however this is a planned operation and is being done in an effort to stop the fires growth and to protect any structures and important items in that area.

Meanwhile, There have been changes to the evacuation orders in Fremont and Teton Counties.

– Lifting of Evacuation for Lava Mountain Lodge, Roaring River Subdivision, Buckboard Subdivision, Double Bar J Ranch, Lava Creek Ranch, Triangle C Ranch, Pelham Lake, Sheridan Creek Camp Areas, Old Mackenzie Ranch. The above aforementioned locations are now in a Level 2 SET notice, please be ready to leave at a moment’s notice if conditions deteriorate.

– Decreasing of Evacuation Levels for Brooks Lake Lodge, Pinnacle, Breccia, and Long Creek, and Dunior areas.

– Lifing of Evacuation for Upper Gros Ventre. Evacuees may return to property. Upper Gros Ventre and Darwin Ranch areas remain in Set stage (Prepare to Evacuate) due to the continued activity of the Pack Trail Fire.

– Union Pass subdivision will remain in a Level 2 Set Status.

This decision comes following thorough assessments and evaluations by fire and emergency management teams.
