A 27-year-old snowmobiler died Monday afternoon after being buried in an avalanche on Togwotee Pass. At this time, the victim’s name is not being released pending notification of relatives. Jessica King of Teton County Search and Rescue says the man was in a party of four snowmobiling in the snowfields below the Breccia Cliffs when a large avalanche triggered shortly before 3:00 pm. King says the victim’s companions unburied the man within about five minutes and initiated CPR, but were unable to restore breathing. Search and Rescue personnel responded with the helicopter due to the remoteness of the incident, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. King says the group was visiting the area.
