A tragic cabin fire off Sagebrush Drive in Teton County, Wyoming, resulted in the death of 28-year-old Rollie Wells Knori early on Wednesday, despite heroic attempts by first responders to save him. The Teton County Communications Center received a 911 call at 2:13 a.m. reporting the blaze, with a follow-up report confirming the cabin was occupied, according to a Jackson Hole Fire/EMS statement cited by Cowboy State Daily. Teton County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputies, Jackson Hole Fire/EMS (JHF/EMS) crews, and Grand Teton National Park personnel responded, but a TCSO deputy’s rescue attempt was thwarted by intense fire and smoke. JHF/EMS Engine 11 suppressed the fire, gaining control by 2:36 a.m., but Knori was found deceased.
The response involved 33 JHF/EMS members from stations in Jackson, Wilson, Adams Canyon, and Moose, with no injuries to responders. Deputy Chief Brian Coe, quoted in Cowboy State Daily, said, “First responders worked valiantly to save a life,” expressing gratitude for no additional injuries and condolences to Knori’s family. The Good Samaritan Mission provided food and drinks to crews. JHF/EMS Fire Marshal Raymond Lane, TCSO, and Teton County Coroner Brent Blue are investigating, with a report pending.
