Teton County Secures Year-Round Helicopter for Search and Rescue: A Community Triumph

May 21, 2023 by Cecily Ross

In an incredible display of community support and dedication, the Teton County Search & Rescue Foundation has achieved a remarkable milestone. After just two months of their public campaign, the foundation is thrilled to announce the successful completion of “Mission Critical.” With over 1,200 generous donations from the community, they have raised the necessary funds to bring a year-round rescue helicopter to Teton County, Wyoming. This achievement marks a significant advancement in the county’s emergency response capabilities, ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents and visitors.

Community Power Unleashed

The TCSAR Foundation launched its public campaign on March 18 with an ambitious goal of raising over $1.25 million, contributing to the total target of $7.25 million required for the mission. The response from the community was nothing short of extraordinary. Countless individuals, businesses, and organizations rallied behind the cause, recognizing the importance of this critical asset for Teton County. Their unwavering support and collective efforts culminated in the successful attainment of the fundraising goal, guaranteeing the arrival of a year-round rescue helicopter by the upcoming fall.

Acknowledging Community Contributions

To express their heartfelt gratitude and commemorate the end of the Mission Critical campaign, the TCSAR Foundation and its dedicated volunteers are inviting the entire community to a special helicopter demonstration event. Scheduled to take place on May 24 at Phil Baux Park, located at the base of Snow King, the event promises an exciting display of the helicopter’s capabilities. From 4:30-7 p.m., attendees will have the rare opportunity to witness a short-haul operation, an innovative rescue technique in which a patient is lifted by the helicopter using a rope attached to their harness. This impressive demonstration will showcase the seamless coordination and expertise of TCSAR volunteers, providing insight into their life-saving operations.

A Community Celebration

The festivities at Snow King are set to create an atmosphere of celebration and appreciation. Alongside the captivating demonstration, attendees will be treated to an array of delectable delights generously provided by local establishments. Pinky G’s will serve up mouthwatering pizza, JH Pop will offer delightful popcorn, La Fiera will bring their delicious tacos to the table, and Roadhouse Brewing will be providing refreshing beer. In addition, a selection of beverages from local suppliers and scrumptious ice cream from St. John’s Episcopal Church will be available. These complimentary food and beverage offerings will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, so everyone is encouraged to join the festivities promptly. The event is family-friendly, and all members of the community are warmly invited to attend.
